Gulf Coast Claims Facility Administrator Kenneth Feinberg has stated that most people with an "eligible" claim will not need to hire an attorney. It will become more clear in the coming weeks which claims types are considered eligible as the details of the new BP claims process are revealed.

Examples of claims areas that still hold uncertainty include losses in property values, lost income from businesses and individuals with complex accounting and/or dealing with cash.
